  1. Mark thank you so much for sharing with us a wonderful evening of brilliantly played uplifting music full of sunshine and colour. Such an oasis of calm in a busy and ever more broken world. We loved it.

  2. What a cultural treat it was to listen to Mark in our little St Patrick’s Chapel, Hogsback, yesterday afternoon. Sublime playing made the guitar sound like a multitude of stringed instruments all-in-one. Enchanting repertoire-eclectic choices and familiar favourites. Thank you most sincerely. Helen Chappel

  3. Beethoven himself once uttered, ’The guitar is the sound of moonlight.’ In Mark Jennings’ hands, melody and simplicity are moonlight made in heaven.’

  4. Mark’s performance at Rhodes University was so technically proficient and musically rich that I booked a ticket at a second performance in Port Alfred just three days later. The second performance was even better than the first!

  5. Thank you for a lovely concert last night in Makhanda (Grahamstown) – always a treat hearing such wonderful music so expertly performed.

  6. A slightly cooler sunny summer’s evening set the scene for this month’s musical soiree in Val de Vie, where a full audience was very thoroughly entertained by a magical guitar recital by Mark Jennings. Paarl South Africa.

  7. Mark performed at our church in Bergvliet, Cape Town. It was a truly unforgetful experience. I look forward to him returning to SA and gracing us with his presence again. Thank you Mark.

  8. Dear Reverend Strauss,
Thank you so much to you and to your lovely wife, Sanet, for being such wonderful hosts in both your church and in your home.
Mignonne and I hope very much to see you all again!

  9. Strauss Joubert February 3, 2024. Mark blessed us with a classical guitar evening in Somerset East South Africa. The audience was carried away on the classical guitar notes; a new and invigorating experience for our country town. Our congregation benefited financially as well as emotionally from Mark’s performance.

  10. We had such a lovely evening at Kingsclere Methodist Church on 18 November 2023. Mark’s playing was a delight, the atmosphere very special, the whole event one we would love to repeat if possible. Thank you Mark.

  11. Wow! Mark recently delivered a wonderful and mesmerising recital at St John the Baptist Church, Barnet. His masterful and sensitive playing was very much appreciated by all in the audience. We would love for Mark to return to us for another recital at a future date.

  12. Thank you so much for a delightful and relaxing concert at St Mary’s church. It helped us to raise some much needed funds for the Bishop’s appeal.

  13. Dear Mark. A massive thank you from all of us at Karibuni Children, for your wonderful playing at our fundraising recital at Holy Trinity Church in Prestwood on 30th September. You picked a delightful programme for our audience, spanning four centuries of music, and we have had many notes of appreciation from those present. Thank you again.

  14. Mark—many thanks for coming to All Saints Orpington and for a stellar performance! Your programme of intertwining Baroque composers with those from the Classical period and then bursting into the contemporary was fantastic and energising. Your interpretation of Turina’s ‘Homage to Tarrega’ was sublime and continues to resonate! Best wishes and blessings to you!

  15. From all of us at All Saints’ Church, Blackheath, thank you very much for a wonderful recital! You delighted a modest, but perfectly formed, audience with a wide-ranging, thoughtfully curated programme of guitar hits and lesser-knowns, performing it brilliantly – and the narrative you provided to stitch your performance together added to the experience. Thank you!

  18. Huge thanks to you, Stella, and to your team for organising the recital. It was a pleasure for me to be there with you all, and touching to have received such a warm reception. Thank you!

  19. Mark gave a wonderful concert at St Mary’s Streatley on Thames yesterday. A very varied repertoire and all the pieces were very much enjoyed by the audience. The concert finished with a large bang as it coincided with the start of a massive thunderstorm but fortunately we had all already enjoyed all Mark’s virtuoso performance.

  20. Thank you enormously, Sandra, for organising the recital at St Lawrence, and for posting such positive feedback. It was a real pleasure for me to perform for you all. Thank you!

  21. Mark gave a delightful and very accomplished recital at St Lawrence, Chobham, on May 26th. The repertoire was skilfully chosen to showcase the virtuosity, versatility and expressiveness of the guitar. The beautiful, mellow guitar sounds were complemented by the natural acoustic resonance of the church. The evening was well presented and the audience warmed to Mark’s introductions and explanations of original compositions as well as transcriptions from a range of musico-historical eras.

  22. What a wonderful show in Chobham church this evening, a journey from baroque and rococo up to more modern day. I scribbled composer and player names as you recited them in your narrative: I feel a Spotify playlist is soon to emerge.
The performance was mesmerising and your playing was enhanced by the excellent acoustics.
The evening was helped by the intimacy of the venue, please come and play again so I can spread the word amongst my fellow music fans.

  23. Superb recital in Chobham Church – outstandingly played and a perfect repertoire. A real maestro and an entertaining and charming presenter of his programme.

  24. Mark played a gorgeous selection of music on a Friday evening in Chobham St Lawrence church.
So thank you Mark for allowing me end the week uplifted!
    Baroque to 20th century.

    Great choices
    Great technique
    Seemingly effortless

Ps the church is a great location

  25. Thanks Mark for a wonderful performance at St.Augustine’s Catholic Cathedral on the 27th April 2023 in Port Elizabeth. My son and grandson are both classical guitarists and appreciated the programme and your skill on the guitar. We look forward to your next visit. Dominic Sam.

  26. Thank you so much for an amazing evening of music on Saturday! Mark was like Andreas Segovia reincarnate!
    St Francis Bay, South Africa.

  27. As a lover of classical guitar music I was more than pleasantly surprised at Mark’s incredible skill as he played a feast of Spanish/South American compositions. He made difficult, technical pieces appear effortless (they certainly are not!), and he interpreted each piece beautifully, as expressed in the dynamics of each piece. The audience was enthralled by each note! We definitely look forward to Mark’s return to our shores for more recitals! It was also a pleasure to meet Mark and his lovely wife Mignonne. Paul Mosdell, St Francis United Church, St Francis Bay, South Africa.

  28. I have never been a lover of classical guitar music, until Mark came along with his amazing talent, music, transporting us all to other parts of the world. Very informative and very inspiring and now we are hooked! Please visit soon and play at The Stables again. Wally & Claudina

  31. Thank you Mark for your sublime and uplifting recital at Ss. Simon & Jude’s, Bramdean.

We kept our Patronal Festival on Sunday, and I spoke on the example of the saints…
“Without a bridge on a guitar, the strings cannot be played and music is impossible. Without the saints in light, the peoples of the world cannot resonate with grace and fullness of life is impossible.”

Thank you for inspiring this preacher.

    Revd. Christopher Durrant (Rector)

  32. We had to wait 3 years (mainly due to Covid related postponements) to host Mark at St Simon and St Jude, Bramdean. It was well worth the wait. You took us to Spain and S.America during your exquisite guitar recital. Many thanks for a memorable evening.

  33. Spent a lovely evening listening to Mark Jennings, playing classic guitar music at All Saints Church, Hackbridge.
It really brought back lovely memories of time spent in Granada, Spain. You really have a wonderful talent and I would love to listen to your music again. BRAVO!!!
